Helen Cambron FNP-BC is a Nurse Practitioner who specializes in neurological and orthopedic disorders of the spine at Cedars- Sinai Institute for Spinal Disorders ( I.S.D) The Institute is designed to offer patients with spinal disorders access to a multidisciplinary team that will comprehensively evaluate, treat, and manage their care using the utmost in technology.
Ms. Cambron is nationally board certified as an Adult and Family Care Nurse Practitioner from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, (ANCC) and holds licensure in California as a Nurse Practitioner. She is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, (AANP) , California Association of Nurse Practitioners (CANP) and a member of Sigma Theta Tau, National Honor Society of Nursing.
While active in the care of patients within a large neurosurgical practice Ms. Cambron also participates in clinical research as a research coordinator for a number of ongoing studies as well as academic papers in major neursourgical journals. She has been published in nationally recognized journals such as The Spine Journal, Neurosurgical Focus, and AORN. Ms. Cambron has been a preceptor to Acute Care and Family Practice Nurse Practitioner students from the UCLA Graduate School of Nursing and has also enjoyed acting as a mentor to Youth Education Development (YED) students from local high schools who have interests in the fields of medicine and nursing. Ms. Cambron also enjoys work as a free lance medical illustrator and has had her art published in numerous textbooks and journals.
Ms. Cambron graduated with full academic honors from Wichita State University with her baccalaureate degree in nursing , (BSN) and minor degrees in psychology and art. After graduation she went into clinical practice as a multi-specialty peri-operative nurse and preceptor at the UCLA Medical Center, Westwood and then entered the UCLA Graduate School of Nursing, Adult and Family Nurse Practitioner Program where she graduated with her MSN and academic honors and went on to became the first Nurse Practitioner at UCLA to specialize in Neuro-spine disorders. After a number of years in group practice at UCLA Ms. Cambron joined the private practice of J. Patrick Johnson, MD Neurosurgeon and Spine Specialist in 2001 where she has remained since.
